Everything homeowners ask us in the first phone call, written down. If yours is not here, send it with your photos and we will answer it in the quote.
Part 1
Getting a quote
How do I get a price without anyone coming to my house?
Send a few photos of your windows through the form on any page, or email them. We write back with an itemised quote, usually within one business day. Nobody visits until you have approved a number.
What photos do you need?
Each window from inside, showing the trim, and the same opening from outside far enough back to see the wall. A close-up of a corner helps. Phone photos are fine.
Is the quote really the final price?
Yes, unless you change the order or we open a wall and find rot. The measure visit confirms sizes, not budget. There is no discount that expires at midnight because there was never a markup to discount from.
Do you replace just one or two windows?
Yes. Plenty of homeowners start with the worst room and do the rest the following year. The price per window is the same either way.
Part 2
The windows
Why ProVia and not a cheaper brand?
We have pulled a lot of cheap windows back out of Madison walls. ProVia builds a foam-filled, welded vinyl frame with a lifetime warranty that transfers to the next owner, and their glass packages are rated for the northern climate zone. It is what we would put in our own homes.
Which style should I get?
Send the photos and we will tell you. As a rule: double-hung for classic homes and easy cleaning, casement for the tightest seal and the best view, slider where there is no room to crank, picture where you never open it, bay or bow to add light and a shelf.
Are they ENERGY STAR rated?
Yes. Every glass package we install is ENERGY STAR certified for the northern zone, with Low-E coating and argon fill as standard, not as an upgrade.
Can you match an odd shape or an old opening?
Yes. Every window is built to your measurements, including arches, angles and the odd sizes found in older Madison homes. That is the point of ordering custom instead of stock.
Part 3
Installation
How long does the whole thing take?
Usually a day for the quote, a few weeks for ProVia to build your windows, and one to two days on site. Most homeowners are looking at about a month from photos to finished.
How long is my house open during the install?
Minutes per window. One opening is out and the new unit is in before we touch the next. That is why we install straight through a Wisconsin winter.
Do I have to be home the whole time?
No. Somebody needs to let us in and be there at the end for the walkthrough. The middle of the day is up to you.
What if you find rot when the old window comes out?
Rotten sills and trim we replace at no charge, it is part of the job. On the rare job where the wall studs behind the window are rotten, we stop, show you the problem, and repair it on a time and materials basis only after you say go. We do not set a new window on a rotten sill and cover it with trim.
Part 4
Money and warranty
When do I pay?
At the end, after every window is in and you have walked the house with us. No deposit, nothing at the measure visit.
Can I finance it?
Yes, through Hearth. You can check monthly options in about two minutes with a soft credit check, and the price is the same whether you finance or not. Details are on the financing page.
What is covered if something goes wrong later?
Three things: ProVia’s lifetime limited warranty on the window, our workmanship warranty in writing on your quote, and us coming back if something sticks or whistles. The warranty page spells all three out.
Do you offer any discount for multiple windows or paying cash?
No, and that is on purpose. One price for everyone, no games. What you save is the sales commission and the three-hour presentation that other companies build into the number.
