Cottage Grove Is Hitting the Twenty-Year Mark
Respect Windows installs ProVia replacement windows in Cottage Grove, about six miles east of our shop along the I-94 corridor. We quote from photos, measure once in person and install with our own Dane County crew.
Most of this village is young. The median home was built in 2003 and nearly two in three were built since 2000, which puts a large share of Cottage Grove’s windows right at the age where builder-grade vinyl starts to wear out.

What Twenty-Year-Old Builder Windows Do
The windows in Cottage Grove today
Builder-grade vinyl is chosen to pass inspection on the day the house sells. It is not chosen to be the window you still like twenty years later. Somewhere between year fifteen and year twenty-five the signs show up, usually in the same order. First the balances weaken and the sashes drift down. Then the weatherstripping flattens and drafts start at the meeting rail. Last, the seals go and the glass clouds over, most often on the south and west sides first.
Many homes from this period also have a half-round or arched transom over the great-room windows. Those shapes are exactly the ones a lot of installers avoid, and they are often the draftiest glass in the house.
| Built | Share of Cottage Grove homes | Homes, roughly |

| 1960 to 1979 | 5% | About 180 |
| 1980 to 1999 | 26% | About 930 |
| 2000 and newer | 63% | About 2,260 |

Common questions
Cottage Grove Window Replacement FAQ
Do you replace windows in Cottage Grove, WI?
Yes. Cottage Grove is about six miles east of our Madison shop. Send photos for a quote, and we will measure in person before anything is ordered.
My house was built in the 2000s. Is it too early to replace the windows?
Not necessarily. Builder-grade vinyl from that era is commonly showing weak balances, drafts and failed seals by now. If sashes will not stay up, you feel air at the meeting rail, or the glass is foggy, it is worth getting a price.
Can you replace the arched window over my great room?
Yes. Arches, half-rounds and other specialty shapes are built to your opening’s exact curve and angle. A clear photo from inside, plus one from outside, is enough for us to start the quote.
Will new windows look different from the rest of my subdivision?
They do not have to. ProVia windows come in standard colors with optional grids, so we can keep the look consistent with the rest of the street. If your neighborhood has an HOA, check its rules on exterior colors and grids before you choose.
