The 1990s Window Problem
The windows in Oregon today
Oregon’s biggest single slice of housing was built in the 1980s and 1990s, and many of those homes still have their original windows. Vinyl from that period tends to discolor and go brittle, and the corner welds can open up. Wood windows from the same years often look fine inside while the exterior cladding hides rot underneath.
Around the village are farmhouses and acreage homes, some well over a century old, with tall double-hungs and whatever windows previous owners added over the decades. Replacing those means working with openings that are rarely square.
| Built | Share of Oregon homes | Homes, roughly |
|---|---|---|
| Before 1960 | 11% | About 530 |
| 1960 to 1979 | 21% | About 1,020 |
| 1980 to 1999 | 36% | About 1,750 |
| 2000 and newer | 33% | About 1,600 |
Oregon has 4,854 homes in all. Source, US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020 to 2024 five-year estimates, table B25034, rounded.

Common questions
Oregon Window Replacement FAQ
Do you install windows in Oregon, WI?
Yes. The Village of Oregon is about ten miles south of our shop, and we also serve the surrounding countryside. Send photos to get a quote.
My 1990s vinyl windows are yellowing and cracking. Should I replace them?
Yellowing, brittle vinyl is a sign the material is breaking down after years of sun, and cracked corners let air and water in. That usually means replacement. A ProVia window has a foam-filled frame and a much better glass package than the originals.
Can you replace windows in an old farmhouse?
Yes. Openings in older farmhouses are rarely square, so we measure each one in person and ProVia builds every window to that size. Tall double-hungs keep the traditional look.
How long does an Oregon quote take?
Usually one business day from when your photos arrive. The in-person measure comes after you decide to go ahead, before anything is ordered.
